If you've never heard of Rainbow Sandals, or better yet, never owned a pair, you are missing out. They were made with beach in mind, and only get better with age. My first pair was actually a men's small, which doesn't have the tapered heel that I'd heard was bothersome about the women's. Don't be alarmed by the photo, the original pair started out a lot darker than the new ones.

This week I had the joy of picking up a new pair of sandals. I've been wearing my rainbows for a little over two years now, and while I know they have a lot more life in them, quite frankly, they look yucky. I've tried cleaning them, but at a certain point the leather got all rough and stained. When I scrub, I just rip off bits of leather.
I was tired of giving people the impression I'm dirty and can't afford new shoes, so I decided it was time for a new pair. Granted, the new pair won't look so nice for long.. and I still won't wear anything else, but oh well. I wandered around the internet for a while, but never actually found a good deal. I also tried our local surf/skate shop... but they had two pairs, neither of them my size. So some random store in the mall received my business instead. I know you probably don't care--but I love these shoes. I love them so much, that it's an "event" for me to get a new pair.
These puppies are made of leather and after a while, they totally mold to your foot. Both the single & double layer sandals have arch support, a rarity for sandals. You can see there's already a really faint imprint of my cute little foot on the new sandal, after just two days. I'm guessing I won't have any stains from this pair, since they are such a light color. After reading a few tips online, I decided to soak them in water and then wear them around while they dried, it's supposed to make them really soft. I'm expecting fantastic comfort within a few weeks.
